THE EMBASSY AND THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE SOVEREIGN ORDER OF MALTA IN SLOVENIA IN ACTION FOR THE PANDEMIC

The Order was one of the first Sovereign to recognise the new Republic of Slovenia in 1992 and since then has been consistently working in the Country as is it’s tradition for more than 800 years of presence in these territories. There is a very active organisation of Malta Aid Slovenia (OMAS ) Volunteers, mainly young persons assisting our Lords of the poor, sick and needy.

The Sovereign Order of Malta Embassy in Slovenia works in close cooperation with the Slovenian Association of the SMOM with it’s President Tadej Jakopič, and the OMAS through it’s President Matija Cevc and the Chancellor Roman Vučajnk with all the Knights and Volunteers to help the OMAS in their valuable work. The Embassy during all these years has been providing food and essential goods which have been distributed throughout the Country. During this Covid19 pandemic the Embassy with its staff, Minister Counsellor Alberto Bochicchio, Counsellor Commendatore Hugh Malim and Secretary, Professor Matjaz Zigon, together with the Ambassador, Prince Windisch-Graetz,  have recently raised a considerable sum of international funds: these funds will now allow the OMAS to considerably extend their assistance in response to the terrible Pandemic challenge being faced in the country in this time.

The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta is very grateful for the continued support of the many generous international donors who are supporting its mission of assisting the most needy in Slovenia especially in this period of Pandemic.
